The work is a collection of fragments on the books of Daniel and the Apocalypse of St. John, assembled by Newton's half-nephew Benjamin Smith. Within the work, Newton looks into the writings of ancient historians to show the coming fulfillment of the prophecies in the book of Daniel and the Apocalypse of St. John, including the coming of the Messiah.
